In the latest celeb crypto scam, infamous streamer Boogie2988 saw his meme coin slapped-down after Coffeezilla got involved – here’s everything you need to know.
Last week, YouTuber Steven “Boogie2988” created a meme coin on Solana via pump.fun and called it FADDY, poking fun at his long-term weight issues. In a wild 24-hour period, the token shot up over 1000% before quickly dumping below its launch price.
Boogie is the latest in a long line of influencers and Z-list celebs to launch their own token, following the likes of R&B artist Jason Derulo and the rapper Lil Pump.
Boogie2988 just deleted days worth of incriminating tweets regarding his Faddy Token scandal. Luckily, I archived everything over that time period for my upcoming video. Since he's trying to hide what he did, I figured I'd drop the full thread of screenshots and videos. 🧵

The overweight streamer replied to a fan who asked if he was serious about creating his own crypto token, saying, “It’s not serious. It’s a shitty meme coin. No one will buy it for any other reason than to laugh about it.”

After FADDY was quickly pumped and dumped, Boogie came under increasing fire from users of X and Reddit.
He responded by saying that he was trying to pay for cancer treatments by launching a meme coin.
He quickly backed off after the infamous YouTube investigator Coffeezilla got involved. Coffee responded to Boogie’s post by reminding him that FADDY was down over 90% from the highs.

Appearance Of CoffeeZilla Leads To Weak Backtrack By Boogie
Boogie2988 released a statement trying to clear up the pump and dump allegations.
“Fine, I’ll speak as succinctly and bluntly as I can. I knew zero of my fans would download Coinbase, and create an account, just to buy a shit coin. It literally wasn’t going to happen,” said Boogie.
“But a bunch of crypto millionaires might come in and waste .01% of their worth on a meme coin as a joke, and they did.”
He doubled down, adding, “I don’t care if a multi-millionaire loses less than a percent of their holdings. That happens to crypto bros all day every day. I don’t care one bit about it. I would really care if there was an actual fan who started crypto just to buy a coin I told them not to buy, tho. But that person doesn’t exist, so we’re good.”

Since the drama over the weekend, Boogie2988 has deleted the “apology” posts and pinned a post to his X account stating that he has spoken with CoffeeZilla, who advised him to back off from the crypto space and that he will now “leave it to other celebrities instead”.
I spoke with @coffeebreak_YT tonight and he made it abundantly clear why I should back off of this whole bit and the crypto space
I always thought it was just going to be a goofy laugh and no one would actually get hurt. Thankfully it appears no one actually did
But it’s been…

This worrying trend of influencers/celebs launching meme coins to pump and dump them on their community will be interesting to see if even a few days pass before another similar case hits the internet.
